Everyone reads differently. Nothing you do in your practice is right or wrong.

Some can read on a loud train while others cannot. I’m in the latter car. Environment matters. Find the space that sets your mind up to work its muscles.

Don’t read books you do not like. Put it down, move on, try later. Reading is a river not a pond.

If you don’t feel like reading, don’t. Internal turmoil can disrupt the book connection. Give yourself a break. I read children’s books here.

Reading is not a competitive sport. Go slow, go fast, doesn’t matter. What matters is you go. Everyday. Even if it’s just for 15 minutes.

How many books you read is of little importance. Meaning is all.

Soon you’ll “catch as a draft” as they say in auto racing and hit that place where there is no time nor space. It’s just you and Ivan Illych and Jay Gatsby and Elizabeth Bennett and Edmond Dantes.
